Bayfield Boat Yard Ltd. built a reputation in Ontario for producing traditional, full-keeled cruising sailboats with classic lines and practical, family-friendly interiors. These boats were built conservatively with fiberglass construction and thoughtful cruising details, earning a loyal following as dependable Great Lakes and coastal cruisers.

The Bayfield 32 (originally introduced as the Bayfield 30 and commonly marketed as the “32” based on overall length including the clipper bow and bowsprit) is a distinctive Ted Gozzard design known for its sweeping sheer, full keel, keel-attached rudder, shoal draft, and comfortable accommodations for its size. It’s a purpose-built cruising platform with the kind of traditional character that never goes out of style.

This 1980 Bayfield 32 “Shimarak” presents with a green hull and white accents, masthead sloop rig, aft cockpit, and a warm, practical interior layout featuring a forward V-berth, enclosed head with sink and vanity, and a main salon with port and starboard settees and a drop-leaf table. The boat has seen thoughtful recent investment including a new Force10 2-burner stove with oven (2025), new propane tank, mount, lines and wiring for the propane stove and BBQ (2025), new teak bow sprit (2025) with refinished exterior teak that was sanded and resealed (2025), and cockpit upgrades including a new teak plywood hatch door (2025) and new folding teak cockpit table (2025). Sailing systems have been cared for with the main and genoa checked and re-stitched by a sail repairer (2025), and visibility and navigation updated with a new Windex (2026) and a new VHF radio (2024). Auxiliary power is provided by a 2-cylinder Yanmar 15HP diesel with direct drive, supported by key updates including a new solenoid/starter (2025), new motor mount (2025), and new deep cycle batteries (2025). Onboard comfort and usability continue with a new marine toilet (2024), new LED cabin light bulbs (2024), and a new Lev-o-gage (2024), along with classic exterior detailing such as teak scrolling on the bow (2021).
