LOCATION: Kingston Ontario
Albin built its reputation on practical, seaworthy boats with classic Downeast styling and real working-boat sensibility. These vessels are designed to be extremely capable and versatile: stable, efficient, purposeful, and confidence-inspiring when the weather turns and the sea state becomes rough. The Albin 28 Tournament Express became one of the brand’s most successful designs, with more than 1,000 sold since its 1993 debut.
The Albin 28 TE is a rare blend of pocket cruiser/trawler and fishing machine. She rides on a heavily built modified-V hull with hard aft chines and a prop-protecting skeg, giving her straight tracking, solid handling, and excellent confidence offshore. The cockpit is large and open for fishing or entertaining, while below deck she offers a surprisingly complete cabin with convertible dinette, galley, quarter berth, and enclosed head.
This 1998 Albin 28 Tournament Express is a standout example powered by the legendary Cummins diesel (6BTA 5.9L) with only 702 hours. She is equipped for serious versatility with a full aft deck enclosure supported by a welded aluminum frame mounted to the pilot house, allowing for up to 280 degrees of unobstructed visibility from the transom when the canvas sides are removed—perfect for fishing, entertaining, or open-air cruising. A separate pilot house enclosure adds further protection and extends her usability across the season. With heat and air conditioning, three live wells, bow thruster, Lewmar windlass, Garmin chartplotter, Simrad autopilot, swim platform, new batteries, and diesel injector service completed in 2021, this Albin is ready for fishing, extended cruising, canal trips, and comfortable weekends aboard.
Cruise to your favourite mooring spots with friends, explore the Rideau Canal and Trent-Severn waterways, and go on a fishing trip to remote locations in fresh or salt water. This is maximum versatility in one robust and efficient vessel.
